Painter and art teacher, Serap Can was born in 1981 in Bandirma. She obtained her license in Painting, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Sakarya University. She is studied Pedagogy at the Faculty of Education of Anadolu University. In 2010 she moved to Istanbul to do her master's degree in Plastic Arts and Painting at Yeditepe University, at Mahir Güven's studio.

 

Serap Can is one of the painters of the “Pasajda Bir Yıl” project of the İyilik İçin Sanat association. She works in Nedret Sekban's studio and actively participates in several fairs and exhibitions. At the same time, she is an art teacher in a Foundation school and organizes art workshops for children. ​

 

The artist reconstructs the images of real life in his works, while exploring the rhythm of time passing in his metropolis. She installs in her canvas the characters she selects at random from among her countless photographs. From an imaginary angle, these characters simply walk with a natural rhythm, in an abstract urban space. His way of piling them up embodies the way of seeing and being in a metropolis while creating maps of lives.
